Beta Glucan 100+ Questions & Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the benefits of Resveratrol?

Resveratrol is an antioxidant found in the skin of red grapes, Japanese knotweed, peanuts, cocoa, etc. In fact, very small amounts of resveratrol can be found in red wine. It would take nearly 75-95 glasses of red wine to get the same amount of highly purified resveratrol that's in our Beta Glucan 100 Plus from Japanese knotweed.

There is a lot of research pertaining to resveratrol and anti-aging properties. In fact, there are drugs in the works with resveratrol and aging.

What are the benefits of Selenium?

Selenium is an essential micronutrient, which can be found in meat and seafood, but most abundantly in brazil nuts. It has been extensively researched in reproductive health, thyroid gland function, DNA production, and protecting the body from damage caused by free radicals and infection.

It also supports immune response and other immune activities, especially in conjunction with beta glucan. Small amounts of selenium are very beneficial, but there are very few food sources that contain it in adequate amounts.

What are the benefits of Vitamin C?

Vitamin C is an antioxidant, very well known for its immune response and immune benefits. Unfortunately, Vitamin C has been widely recognized as the "go-to" when it comes to immune health. However, side-by-side, it pales in comparison with our highly purified Beta Glucan, but when joining forces they work very well together to provide immune support. In the body, Vitamin C acts as an antioxidant, helping to protect cells from the damage caused by free radicals.

Research continues to come out pertaining to Vitamin C and things like skin health, lung health, eye health, among many other interesting topics.

What is the difference between Beta Glucan 100+ and Beta Glucan 500?

Beta Glucan 100 Plus is a great option for those who are in generally good health, looking for additional immune support. However, our Beta Glucan 500 is for maximum immune support, according to published research. Beta Glucan 100 Plus provides 100mg of Beta Glucan per capsule along with other immune supporting ingredients. Even when compared to other competing glucans/immune products at extremely high doses, both of our products significantly outperform the competition.

Here are a couple of considerations, when selecting a Beta Glucan product:

For unhealthy or immune-compromised individuals

Recommended Product: Beta Glucan 500

Dosage: Take one Beta Glucan 500 capsule per 50 lbs. of body weight each day, once per day on an empty stomach, then wait 30 minutes before eating.

For healthy individuals

Recommended Product: Beta Glucan 100+

Dosage: Take two Beta Glucan 100 Plus capsules each day on an empty, once per day on an empty stomach, then wait 30 minutes before eating.

How much Beta Glucan 100+ should I take (dosage)?

We highly recommend following the Suggested Used osage listed on the bottle, which is 2 capsules once per day on an empty stomach, then wait 30 minutes before eating. However, it is safe to double the dose if you need a higher immune response.

How long until Beta Glucan 100+ starts working?

Beta Glucan 100 Plus begins to work immediately after swallowing, but it generally takes about 3 days before the product primes immune cells and reaches peak efficacy. You'll then want to continue taking the recommended dosage each day to maintain the extra immune support provided by Beta Glucan 100 Plus. As long as you take the product, you will continue to reap the benefits for your immune system. However, once you stop taking it, the immune system will return to it's former level of immune response.

Will Beta Glucan 100+ interfere with drugs, medications, and other supplements?

The short answer is no. Beta Glucan 100 Plus is extremely safe in the specific amounts that were added to this product. When taking the Suggested Use, it is very safe even with other drugs, medications, supplements, etc.

In situations where surgery or an operation is necessary, it is best not to take high doses of Beta Glucan 100 Plus, due to some ingredients having blood thinning properties. However, the Suggested Use dose is still extremely safe in this scenario.

Please consult with your medical professional if you have any additional concerns.

What is the expiration date or shelf life of Beta Glucan 100+?

Our Beta Glucan 100 Plus has a 2-year shelf life.

Where is your Beta Glucan 100+ made/produced?

Our Beta Glucan 100+ is made in Wisconsin, USA, and bottled/encapsulated in Utah, USA.

Can children take Beta Glucan 100+?

Beta Glucan 100+ contains a completely natural herbal ingredient called Resveratrol, which does not have the research available to establish the upper safe daily limit (max consumption per day).

Since we're unsure about the safe limit, we cannot fully guarantee the safety of the product if a child consumes the entire bottle in a single day. Therefore, we cannot in good conscience say this product is absolutely safe for children.

Because of this, we do not recommend using 100+ for children. It is much better suited for older teenagers and adults.

Why have I never heard of beta glucan?

Beta Glucan is not a word that typically comes up in casual conversation so it is widely unknown. However, over the past 15 years it has gained traction since it has become commercially available at an affordable price. In Chinese and Japanese medicine, Beta Glucan is something that’s been used for decades. In Western regions, like the United States, we’re just now catching up, so to speak.

What is an immunomodulator?

Our Beta Glucan is actually considered an immunomodulator. For a substance or product to be an immunomodulator it cannot overstimulate or suppress your immune system. Most products which address the immune system are marketed as “immune boosters,” but that’s actually a misrepresentation of Beta Glucan. This product will never cause overstimulation or harm as it provides a healthy, safe immune response at any dosage. The same cannot be said for typical “immune boosters.” Beta Glucan makes your immune system smarter and stronger, which aids in identifying self and non-self cells better than ever before.

What is Beta Glucan?

In short, Beta Glucan is a natural polysaccharide that is classified as an Immuno-Modulator; meaning, it “modulates” (changes) your Immune System to make it as efficient as possible. This fiber-like molecule works by activating every Immune System Cell in the body: Macrophages, Neutrophils, Basophils, Natural Killer Cells, etc.

Macrophages, specifically, trigger a host of immune functions that allow the body to produce the most complete, effective, and appropriate immune response achievable. The activity of the body's immunocytes (Immune Cells) determines how well your Immune System traps and consumes invaders that do not belong in the body.

AJ Lanigan's Answer:
The short answer to that is Beta-1, 3D Glucan is a natural fiber molecule extracted from our source, baker’s yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae). It enhances, supports, and maintains a good healthy immune system.

The long and more complex answer is that it is a naturally occurring long-chain polysaccharide purified from the cell walls of baker’s yeast. Our beta glucan is intensely purified: I cannot stress that enough. It is a biologically active complex of molecules; it is the single active ingredient in our Beta-1, 3D Glucan Capsules. A lot of times, people think we are dipping from four or five different buckets to make up our powder. This (Beta 1-3D Glucan) is the single ingredient in our compound.

Our Beta Glucan is readily taken up and converted into the body through the immune cells to bind (or hook up or plug into, if you please) to a specific site on the immune cells called the CR3 receptor. CR3 stands for complement receptor number three. These receptors are found on a myriad of different immune cells that make up our white blood cells or our “immune army,” also known as macrophages, neutrophils, eosinophils, monocytes, NK cells, and others. These immune cells make up a large part of the immune system’s main defense mechanism.

Technically, Beta-1, 3D Glucan is a polybranched, polyglucose complex fiber-like particle that when converted, yields a biologically active beta glucan molecule that specifically binds to this CR3 (or sometimes called Mac1 or sometimes called CD11/C18).

How does Beta Glucan work?

When does Beta Glucan start working and how will I know?

There is an immediate influence on your immune system when you begin taking Beta Glucan. However, there are very sophisticated processes in the body that have to occur before your immune system is “fully activated.” It takes about 3 days for your immune system to achieve its maximum level of immune response. Your immune system will stay at this peak level as long as you’re taking the correct dosage. Now your immune system has the ability to take on even the most difficult challenges!

How does the Beta Glucan mechanism of action work with immune cells?

Once you swallow your Beta Glucan capsules, the product it enters the stomach. Shortly after, it is taken up into a special region known as the Peyer’s Patches. In the Peyer’s Patches there are M cells, which transport the Beta Glucan to immune cells. These immune cells chew up the Beta Glucan and distribute it all over the body. The Beta Glucan fragments bind to Neutrophils, Macrophages, and Natural Killer cells. The binding of Beta Glucan to these cells is only possible with something known as the CR-3 Receptor. The CR-3 Receptor acts like a key unlocking a door. This binding of Beta Glucan with immune cells is what puts them on “high alert” priming them for action. In about 3 days after taking your Beta Glucan your immune system will be “fully activated.”
